What is Sport/Performance psychology?

The IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) states:

“Sports psychologists can teach skills to help athletes enhance their learning process and motor skills, cope with competitive pressures, fine-tune the level of awareness needed for optimal performance, and stay focused amid the many distractions of team travel and in the competitive environment.

Psychological training should be an integral part of an athlete’s holistic training process, carried out in conjunction with other training elements. This is best accomplished by a collaborative effort among the coach, the sport psychologist, and the athlete; however, a knowledgeable and interested coach can learn basic psychological skills and impart them to the athlete, especially during actual practice.”

Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement

New: Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement course. I am now an Instructor for this course and will be running workshops for teams. 

What is MSPE: 

It is a 6 to 10 week course help you to enhance your sporting performance by being more mindful. 

 

Sport Psychology is a process of growth, self-discovery, and learning skills that will help you excel in your sporting life as well as in other aspects of your life. In my sessions I encourage a positive outlook and help with the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. I have the tools and professional experience to help you achieve your goals and dreams.​

Performance pyschology

Everyone faces performance issues. From an early age we face an endless sequence of auditions; Evaluations (test scores, grades), public speaking (speaking to classmates), or “Will I get into the right university?” These challenges continue into adult life: “Will I get the job? Promotion? Can I keep up with the competition?”
